Potato Slough Bridge Repair Prompts 18-Hour Full SR-12 Highway Closure

STOCKTON – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is continuing work on a project to repair the bridge deck of the State Route 12 (SR-12) Potato Slough Bridge located near the Tower Park & Terminous communities, west of Interstate 5 (I-5) in San Joaquin County.

The 18-hour full highway closure is scheduled to start at 2:00 a.m. and end at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022

FULL CLOSURE DETOUR INFORMATION:

During full highway closures, motorists should consider I-5 and I-80 as alternate routes and should allow additional travel time due to the detour.  Detour routes are below (an approximate 30-mile, 45-minute detour) and will be posted:

  • Traveling Eastbound on SR-12                                                       

Take SR-160 north to Walnut Grove Road to I-5

  • Traveling Westbound on SR-12

Take I-5 north to Walnut Grove Road to SR-160 south

  • Access to local residents, businesses and emergency services will be allowed from SR-12 into Tower Park from the east and into B&W Resort Marina (Brannon Island Road) from the west. 
  • Current truck advisories apply.  CA LEGAL trucks with kingpin to rear axle over 30 feet are not recommended on SR-160.  Trucks are discouraged from using this detour route and are advised to use I-5 and I-80 as alternate routes.

The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, materials, and/or construction-related issues.
