BART Offers Extended Service for 2022 New Year’s Eve

Press Release

by CC News
Bay Area Rapid Transit

For New Year’s Eve Bay Area Rapid Transit will run standard Saturday service but with an extended closing time and extra event trains.

1 am Service at a Glance:

  • Three-line special service (Yellow, Blue and Orange only- see map below).
  • Trains will be waiting at MacArthur, 12th St and Bay Fair for timed transfers.
  • SFO and OAK airport stations will NOT be served.
  • Last East Bay bound train running through downtown San Francisco will be at around 1:30am.
  • Last southbound train heading toward Millbrae will run through downtown San Francisco at 2:10am.
  • Extra event trains will run during the last hour of service to provide direct service.

We are encouraging riders who need a Clipper card (BART no longer sells paper tickets) to add a digital card to their phone’s mobile wallet and to load round trip funds before arriving to BART. A digital card avoids the $3 plastic card fee and the hassle of waiting in long lines at machines.

BART will offer overtime shifts to train operators to run extra event trains, that could potentially provide direct service to Dublin, Richmond and Berryessa, that can be dispatched between the one-hour gap in between the midnight and 1am dispatch.

BART’s Trip Planner has been updated to include the extended service trains. The extra event trains will not appear in the Trip Planner because they will be dispatched based on crowding and availability but will appear on the platform digital signs and real time departures on our app and website. Full details here.
