Concord Police Seek Public’s Help After Arrest of Sexual Assault Suspect

Press Release

by CC News

The Concord Police Department is asking for our community’s assistance following the arrest of a man for an incident involving sexual assault and attempted kidnapping.

On December 25th, in the early afternoon, a woman was walking on Wilson Lane near Dianda Drive when a man approached her and offered her food. When the woman refused the man grabbed her, sexually assaulted her, and attempted to kidnap her.

The woman was able to fight the man off and he fled the area in a white 2001 Chevrolet Blazer. Concord Police were able to get a license plate number of the suspect’s car, which eventually led us to his arrest later that evening.

Concord Police Officers arrested 27-year-old Michael Anton on charges of attempted kidnapping and sexual assault. He is currently in Contra Costa County Jail and the District Attorney’s Office has filed charges.

Through our investigation it was learned that Anton is believed to have approached other females who were walking by themselves. We believe there may be additional victims in the community who have not reported to the police. Other law enforcement agencies in the area have been notified of the case. However, we encourage anyone who may have been victimized or had any contact with the suspect to please contact CPD Detectives.

We have no further details of the case to release at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this case should contact Detective Kaitlyn Revel with CPD’s Special Victim’s Unit at 925-603-5864. CPD Case #22-13236.
