Thanks to a local business owner placing an Apple AirTag in a safe, it helped lead law enforcement to suspects in a commercial burglary in the city of San Pablo. The suspects were in custody in less than five hours.

According to police, early Saturday morning, San Pablo Police responded to an alarm call at one of San Pablos local smoke shops. The suspects were gone when officers arrived but while speaking with the business owner; officers got video surveillance of the vehicle.

Officers also learned that the victim had an Apple AirTag in their safe which was taken. Detectives took over the case and began tracking the suspects. They learned of several other burglaries in Sonoma County, Alameda County and San Joaquin County.

CHP was notified and tracked the vehicle to Coalinga California.

After a brief pursuit and the suspects throwing the stolen items out the window, CHP officers apprehended the suspects. San Pablo Detectives responded and collected all this stolen property and suspects.

Police thanked the Alameda County Sheriffs Department, Tracy Police Department and California Highway Patrol for assisting in helping track down the suspects.
