Danville Overnight Road Closures and Update on Cleanup Progress

Town of Danville

by CC News

The Town of Danville offered the community an update on its overnight road closures, cleanup progress and how to report concerns as the new round of storms approach Contra Costa County.

For the most up to date information from the Town of Danville, please go to the website at: www.Danville.ca.gov.

The following roadways continue to be closed as a result of storm related damage:

  •  El Capitan between Mustang Drive and Brookside Drive
  • Blackhawk Road between Diablo Creek Place and Jillian Way (PG&E closure for repairs – expected to clear this evening)

As we continue to address impacts of last week’s storm and prepare for upcoming rains, we have an extensive update that we hope you will read carefully and share with your neighbors. This update will provide additional information on the scale of the flooding and response provided (video is from early Saturday).

Here are some urgent points:

  • The extent of Saturday’s flooding was unprecedented in the forty years since the Town incorporated.
  • The Town experienced 5.5 inches of rainfall within less than 24 hours.
  • More than 5,000 sandbags have been provided, and the sandbag station is being replenished as often as supplies are available.
  • Recovery efforts are focused on removing enough mud to make streets passable.
  • Clean-up work is currently focused in the Brookside Drive neighborhood.
  • Please use extreme caution if you must drive through mud-filled roads, as the surface can be slippery.
  • Residents should check drain inlets and facilities located on or near their property to ensure that they are unobstructed and free flowing.
  • Please report any urgent life safety concerns to the Police Department at 911 (emergency line) or 925-820-2144 (non-emergency).
  • To request non-life safety assistance for clean-up or other concerns, residents can contact Danville Maintenance Services at 925-314-3450 or use the Town’s online reporting site at www.danville.ca.gov/danvilleconnect.
