The Richmond Police Department announced that on January 7, officers responded to a report of a kidnapping within the City of Richmond.

Police officers determined an adult female was kidnapped by a suspect driving a white SUV. Richmond Police and one of their K-9 units (Ofc. Charles and K9 Cash) saturated the area looking for the suspect.

The suspect vehicle was soon located which the suspect opted to flee from officers which resulted in a police pursuit. The pursuit continued until the suspect turned into a dead-end street. Officers and the K9 unit attempted to de-escalate the situation with multiple warnings that the k9 would be unleashed.

The suspect then peacefully surrendered. Although police did not identify the suspect because the cause is still under investigation, they did say the suspect is a 41-year-old resident of the City of San Pablo.

Police say that the victim, who was visibly terrified, was removed from the vehicle and treated by paramedics. The suspect was charged with Kidnapping and multiple sexual assault charges.
