At 9:41 am Friday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle crash involving a big rig at Marsh Creek Road near Hoffman Lane in Byron.
A medical helicopter was requested, however, with CPR in progress, the person was transported via ground ambulance.
No other information was released.
The California Highway Patrol and Contra Costa County Sheriff responded to the scene for traffic control.
CHP UPDATE: Two vehicle fatal crash on SR-4 near Brentwood.
This morning (1/20/23) at around 9:42am, CHP Contra Costa was advised of a two vehicle crash on SR-4 at Hoffman Lane. A silver Nissan Sentra, with one occupant, was traveling northbound on Hoffman Lane and a Tractor Trailer combination, with one occupant, was traveling eastbound on SR-4.
It appears the driver of the Nissan entered the intersection directly in front of the Tractor Trailer causing the Tractor Trailer to collide into the left side of the Nissan. The driver of the Nissan was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Tractor Trailer was not injured.
This crash is still under investigation.
