  • On October 10 in the afternoon, Lafayette Officers responded to a report of an open door at a residence. Officers arrived and determined the suspect(s) had kicked open the front door. During the investigation, neighborhood cameras provided suspect and suspect vehicle information. It was determined the burglary occurred on October 8th, just after midnight, while the victim family was out of town. This suspect was also linked to a residential burglary that occurred in Danville on the same date. Danville Detectives lead the investigation, assisted by Lafayette Detectives. An arrest was made and charges have been filed.
  • On October 12, around 12:10 p.m., Lafayette Officers were alerted by situational awareness cameras of a vehicle wanted for felony evading from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, the suspect had two felony warrants. Officers located the vehicle eastbound SR-24 at Pleasant Hill Rd. As an Officer positioned himself behind the vehicle to attempt an enforcement stop, the vehicle slammed on its brakes and swerved, which forced the Officer to travel alongside the vehicle. Another Officer got behind the vehicle and initiated an enforcement stop. The vehicle failed to yield and cut across the gore point to the southbound I-680 off-ramp, sideswiping another vehicle. The suspect lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on into the sound wall further down the off-ramp. The suspect, who had felony warrants for theft, also had suspected stolen property located in the vehicle. The suspect was subsequently arrested.
  •  On November 7 in the afternoon, a Lafayette Officer made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle that failed to stop for a stop sign. A records check of the driver was conducted and it was determined the driver a had a warrant from the Sheriff’s Office for sexual crimes as well as an Interpol warrant for homicide in El Salavador. The driver was arrested and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • On November 10, around 2:40 p.m., a Lafayette Sergeant was conducting a patrol request in front of a local store, due to recent thefts. The Sergeant observed a suspicious vehicle in the area and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the stop, a loaded pistol was located in the vehicle. It was determined the suspect had a lengthy criminal history including multiple felony convictions. The suspect was arrested, and the DA’s Office filed multiple firearms related charges.
  • On November 12, around 7:30 a.m., Lafayette Officers were dispatched to the Lafayette Library for a report of a suspicious circumstance. Officers arrived on scene and discovered the roll down gate to the parking garage had been vandalized and damaged, the inside the garage had been spray painted and vandalized, construction tools were stolen, and a cargo trailer parked in the parking lot (owned by the City) had been burglarized. Utilizing surveillance cameras and situational awareness cameras, Officers were able to identify two subjects. Later that day, Detectives located and arrested the suspects in Pleasant Hill (age 18 and 17) and took them into custody. Most of the stolen property was located in the vehicle they were driving. Damage to the Library parking garage, including the roll-up gate, was in excess of $25,000.The case has been submitted to the DA’s Office.
  • November 15, around 2:00 p.m., a male suspect committed a robbery at a Lafayette bank by passing a demand note to a teller inside of a passport. Utilizing cameras from the bank and other locations, Officers were able to retrace the suspect’s path of travel and located discarded items, including the mask he wore inside the bank. The suspect was linked to bank robberies in Berkeley and Concord. The passport used to pass the bank note was one of several stolen during a residential burglary in Walnut Creek. Berkeley PD developed suspect information based on the suspect’s vehicle being captured on surveillance cameras. The suspect was later tracked to San Pablo and was arrested at the casino. The Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab processed the mask found in Lafayette for DNA and it was a match to the suspect. The DA’s Office has filed charges.
