Antioch Police Make Arrest in Sycamore Square Fatal Shooting

The Antioch Police Department announced the arrest and charges in a January 17 homicide on Sycamore Drive in the City of Antioch.

Police announced that Corey Hill, a 19-year-old male out of Antioch, was identified as a suspect in this case by detectives from their Investigations Bureau. He was arrested on an unrelated matter in Orinda and found to be wanted for the Antioch homicide.

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, Detective Cox presented this case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, and Hill was charged with murder and enhancements for using a firearm. He is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility pending arraignment and his bail was set at two million dollars.

Antioch PD detectives thanked the Orinda and Lafayette Police Departments, California Highway Patrol, and Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the arrest of Hill. They also thank the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office for their partnership in pursuing justice for the victim and his family.

ORIGINAL MEDIA RELEASE:
On January 17, 2023, at approximately 10:45 am, the Antioch Police Department Dispatch Center received multiple calls regarding a shooting at The Spot Liquor Store located at 1108 Sycamore Drive. The callers advised there was someone shot at the location. Officers immediately responded and located a male in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The Antioch Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded and took over the investigation. Through their investigation, they learned prior to the shooting there was a dispute that ensued between the victim and the suspect. The suspect shot the victim and fled the scene. It is unknown if he fled on foot or in a vehicle.

The city needs to do something about all the people hanging out on peppertree and quick stop selling drugs.but they don’t, instead the security guy’s talk to them and smoke weed with them.when something happens they don’t do anything! The cops should give people tickets that don’t live in the area for loitering!
