Oakley Police Say Man Shot in Raley’s Shopping Center Parking Lot

According to police, they responded to the Carol Lane Apartments just before 4:00 pm after they confirmed a man was shot in the leg/hip at the apartment complex. However, upon arrival, the victim told officers he was actually shot in the nearby Raley’s parking lot by an unknown male while the victim was sitting in his vehicle.

The victim is a former maintenance worker at the Carol Lane apartments, but a motive is not yet established and it is unknown if there is a connection between the shooting and the victims association with the apartments.

According to a witness, the shooter was in a silver or beige 1996 – 2000 Honda Civic type vehicle and fled towards Bridgehead Road. The suspect is described as a Hispanic adult male in his early 20’s, with shoulder length curly hair.

The victim was conscious and alert and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard said Sunday that this case is still actively being investigated and they are working to confirm an ID of the suspected shooter.
