Pittsburg Announces Several Road Closures Due to Flooding

PITTSBURG, CA – Due to heavy rains, the following streets in Pittsburg have been closed.  Please avoid the areas and use caution while driving on wet roads.

  • Harbor Street between Atlantic Avenue and Yosemite Drive including the intersections at Stoneman Avenue and Ventura Drive.
  • 8th Street between Herb White Way and Beacon Street.
  • North Parkside Drive from Andrew Avenue and Creekside Drive
  • Solari Ave Underpass between 10th Street and E Santa Fe Ave

Kirker Pass at Castlewood Drive – Road is open but there is a signal light issue and the lights will flash red through tomorrow.  Please plan your commute accordingly.

We want to remind residents to avoid this area and please be mindful of traffic cones and delineators to stay safe.

Sandbag Distribution: Sandbags are available to Pittsburg residents at the Corporation Yard (Limit 8 bags per household) on Friday, March 10, 2023 between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm while supplies last.  The Corporation Yard is located at 357 E 12th Street in Pittsburg and residents must check in at front office and provide ID verifying Pittsburg residency.

To report hazards of request assistance:

  • For any fallen trees, reported additional flooding areas, or water/sewer emergency issue please call the public works main line at 925-252-4936.
  • To report roadway flooding, dangerous road conditions, obstructions or fallen power lines call the Pittsburg Police Department at 925-646-2441 or dial 911 for emergencies.
  • For guidance on how to turn off power and gas, or request a PG&E technician, call 800-743-5000.

Contra Costa County Public Works Advises Residents to Stay Safe During Storms

Contra Costa County, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works maintenance crews have been clearing storm drains, catch basins, roadside ditches, monitoring and maintaining flood control channels and stocking sandbag stations in preparation of the coming storms.

The community is encouraged to take steps to protect themselves and their property as well. Please clear drains/gutters, watch for fallen/falling trees/limbs and other debris and look for trouble spots.
