The City of Brentwood announced it will host its Spring Citizen’s Academy beginning Wednesday, April 22, 2023, and will run for nine weeks.

Classes are held at the police department on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a graduation date of June 21, 2023. Participants will meet and interact with many members of the police department and will be exposed to many facets of law enforcement.

Each week will offer different topics related to day-to-day operations and an overview of the challenges and successes our law enforcement officers and support staff face as part of their duties. This experience is not limited to classroom lecture alone. Participants will be exposed to practical exercises and get a firsthand look at some of the equipment used by law enforcement.

The Academy will include:

  • Use of our state-of-the-art MILO virtual training which is a use of force simulator designed for critical incident training, decision support training and de-escalation training
  • ALICE training, also known as active shooter training
  • First aid training
  • Patrol operations
  • Investigations
  • A chance to meet a representative from the District Attorney’s Office
  • And much more!

To apply you must be:

  • Over 18 years old
  • No prior felony arrest, and no misdemeanor arrest for at least three years
  • Be able to attend classes, with the exception of being able to miss one session

A background check will be conducted prior to acceptance.
