The Bay Area Rapid Transit Police announced an Antioch man is in custody after attempting to steal an iPad from a rider and attempted to run away.
According to police, at 4:40pm today BART officers boarded a Richmond bound train at West Oakland right as Gabriel Eakin (7/17/2002, Antioch) fled off the train and out the station. The officers caught him.
While he was trying to run away he discarded a backpack with an unregistered loaded firearm that was modified to be fired fully automatic with a high capacity magazine.
Turns out he had tried to steal someone’s iPad unsuccessfully and then ran off.
Eakin was booked into Alameda County jail in Dublin. He was issued a prohibition order banning him from returning to BART.

What a useless waste of skin hope they throw a book at him.
How about the unregistered firearm on public transportation too besides the rest.
Put him in prison until he’s to old to do harm. Simple Solution to rising crime.
Nice job BPD. One less loser on the streets.
fully auto firearm… THAT’S FEDERAL
