Ron Nunn Elementary School in Brentwood

The Brentwood Union School District is proud to announce that six district teams are headed to the Odyssey of the Mind state tournament on March 25th.

These teams qualified for the state tournament by winning or placing in their division at tournaments held at Concord and Natomas High Schools over the previous two weekends. BUSD has seen tremendous success in Odyssey of the Mind competitions over the last several years and is extremely proud of our eleven teams who worked for months to compete at the tournaments.

Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition. Teams of up to seven students work together to create solutions for long-term problems within general rules and guidelines in five categories (called “problems”): vehicle, technical, classical art and literature, structure, and performance.

Teams compete against other teams in the same divisions. The grade levels determine the division: division 1 is grades K-5; division 2 is grades 6-8; division 3 is grades 9-12.

Congratulations to our six teams heading to the state finals at Adams Middle School.

Superintendent Dana Eaton shared, “Odyssey of the Mind is a transformative program that helps our students build skills to problem-solve collaboratively. I am so proud of our students and appreciative of all of the volunteer parents and staff members who make this program possible. ”
