Charges Filed on Man Who Stabbed Pregnant Woman and Juveniles in Antioch

The Antioch Police Department announced Friday that 10 felony charges have been filed in the case of a man who stabbed a pregnant woman and two juveniles.

On March 18, Antioch Police responded to the 100 block of Wilbur Avenue where they located three victims that were suffering from stab wounds. One victim was a 35-year-old female who was pregnant, a 14-year-old male, and a 11-year-old female. One officer pursued the vehicle where it was involved in a collision in Solano County and the suspect, a 37-year-old, Antioch resident, was taken into custody.

On March 23, 2023, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed the following ten (10) felony charges on Bartley Hall related to this case.

Charges:

  1. 1. One (1) count of murder for the murder of an unborn child – California Penal Code §
    187(a)
  2. Three (3) counts of attempted murder – California Penal Code § 664/187(a).
  3. Four (4) counts of child abuse – California Penal Code § 273a(a).
  4. One (1) count of corporal injury to spouse or cohabitant – California Penal Code §
    273.5(f)(1).
  5. One (1) count of evading a peace officer – California Vehicle Code § 2800.4.

Hall remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility on $5,513,000 bail. We want to thank the Contra Costa County District’s Attorney’s Office for their assistance in this case.

UPDATE 2: Antioch Police Identify Man Who Stabbed Pregnant Woman, 2 Youths

On Monday, the Antioch Police Department identified the suspect in the Saturday stabbing of a pregnant woman and two youths on as Bartley Hall,

On March 18, Antioch Police responded to the 100 block of Wilbur Avenue where they located three victims that were suffering from stab wounds. One victim was a 35-year-old female who was pregnant, a 14-year-old male, and a 11-year-old female.

One officer pursued the vehicle where it was involved in a collision in Solano County and the suspect, a 37-year-old, Antioch resident, was taken into custody.

In response to media requests for additional information, the identity and arrest charges of the suspect in this incident are being released in accordance with California Government Code § 6254(f)(1): Bartley Hall, 37-year-old Antioch resident.

Charges:

  1. Three (3) felony counts of attempted murder – California Penal Code § 664/187(a).
  2. Two (2) felony counts of evading a peace officer – California Vehicle Code §§ 2800.2(1), 2800.4.

Hall remains in-custody on these charges at the Martinez Detention Facility and his bail is currently $1.6 million. This case will be presented to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office by Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

The identity of the victims will be kept confidential in accordance with California Penal Code § 293.

Pregnant Woman and Two Minors Stabbed Saturday in Antioch

On March 18, 2023, at approximately 3:54 pm, the Antioch Police Department’s Communications Center began receiving calls regarding a disturbance in the 100 block of Wilbur Avenue. Shortly after, they received another call stating people were being stabbed at the location. Antioch Police Officers immediately responded to the scene and noticed a vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.

One officer pursued the vehicle where it was involved in a collision in Solano County and the suspect, a 37-year-old, Antioch resident, was taken into custody. No one was injured as a result of the collision and the suspect was evaluated at a local hospital for precaution.

While that officer pursued the suspect, other officers immediately rendered aid to three victims that were suffering from stab wounds. One victim was a 35-year-old female who was pregnant, a 14-year-old male, and a 11-year-old female. All three victims were transported to local hospitals and two are listed in critical condition. This is an isolated incident and there is no active threat to the public.
