First Responders Busy Friday Night in East County

Multiple incidents across East Contra Costa County broke out Friday night limiting resources with multiple medical helicopters requested. Contra Costa County Fire Protection District had engines on major incidents Antioch, Brentwood, Oakley, Knightsen and Byron.

Here is a summary:

8:59 pm: Person Possible Struck by eBART Train (Antioch)

Engine 88 was dispatched to a report of a person possibly struck by an eBART train. A helicopter responding to a medical call in Oakley did an overhead search and was unable to locate any person struck by a train, however, ground crews were still searching

As of 9:28 pm, crews were still attempting to locate a possible victim. By 9:31 pm, crews deemed this “unable to locate” and cancelled all units.


9:01 pm: Rollover Crash w/Major Injuries

Crews were dispatched to Byron Hot Springs Rd & Holey Rd. This was reported as an overturned vehicle crash with a vehicle on fire. All occupants were reported out… driver bleeding from the head. A medical helicopter was requested and was landing at the Byron Airport.


9:04 pm: Bicycle Crash with Medical Helicopter (Oakley)

A bicycle crash was reported with major injuries at Laurel Road and Neroly. It originally was believed to be a fatal crash, however, Oakley Police located the female who sustained a major head injury, however, she was still breathing. A medical helicopter was requested.


9:08 pm: Overturned vehicle Crash
Engine 99 crew was responding to Byron Highway incident when they onviewed a rollover crash at Knightsen Avenue and Delta Road. Engine 99 reported major injuries and requested a medical helicopter.


9:10 pm:  Outside Fire in Brentwood

This was reported as an “outside fire” at Jerfery Way & Lone Tree Way in Brentwood… this fire had multiple reports and several readers sent photos as this is near the new trail. By 9:37 pm, Engine 81 finally made access and could handle with a single unit. Subject is in custody.


9:18 pm – Motorcycle Fire

Engine 92 arrived on scene of a motorcycle fire. Fire is now out at Byron Highway & Taylor Lane in the Town of Byron.


10:01 pm – Medical in Discovery Bay

A medical helicopter responded at the request of E99 on a medical call on Anchorage Way in the Town of Discovery Bay. It was reported that this was a fall victim who hit her head.

Apparently she fell and hit her head.
