The Hercules Police Department says a juvenile was arrested with $30k in stolen property after a May 28 home invasion burglary.

According to police, On May 28, 2023, at approximately 6:25 AM, Officers were dispatched to Finch Court for a report of a subject breaking into the victim’s residence. The victim advised a black male had broken down his back door and entered the house. The victim fled the residence through the front door and ran to his neighbor’s home.

Surveillance at the residence showed a black male adult wearing a blue jacket, black sweatpants, and a gray shirt wrapped around his face, forced entry by shattering the rear sliding glass door.

Nightshift and Dayshift Officers arrived on scene and set a perimeter around the house with assistance from CCSO and Pinole PD. Once a perimeter was set, the Richmond Police K9, Ca$h and his handler responded to the scene along with two additional officers. An entry team cleared the residence and tracked the suspect but no suspect was located.

During a walk-through for items taken, the victim advised approximately $30,000 of cash and property was stolen.

At approximately 9:48 AM, a neighbor on Bluebird Ct (previously spoken to during the neighborhood canvas) advised he was flying his personal drone and located a subject hiding in the green belt area behind the court. While Officers were en route, the resident updated that the subject had left the hiding place and entered a Gray sedan that appeared to be an Uber driver. Officers located a Gray Honda Accord with Uber logos in the window at the corner of Meadowlark and Tanager Way.

A high-risk stop was conducted and a subject matching the exact description of the suspect in the surveillance video exited the rear passenger seat of the Honda.

A search of the rear passenger seat of the Uber revealed over $30,000 of the victim’s property on the floorboard where the subject was seated. The suspect, a Juvenile from Texas, was taken into custody and booked at Juvenile Hall.

Juvenile Criminals May 30, 2023 - 7:57 am

There are so many juveniles committing serious crimes, without any fear of being held accountable. Once we stop coddling them and start making them pay dearly for their actions, perhaps society will become a lot safer.

Re. Juvenile Criminals – The reason why minors are charged as minors and not adults is because the human brain isn’t completely formed until about 25-years of age. The younger the person, the more incomplete their brain’s thought processes. It’s why kids are stupid. It’s also why kids who make stupid decisions while they’re young and dumb shouldn’t have to pay for the for the rest of their life.

Let them come steal from you Kent Smith. That suspects brain was developed enough to run, hide, call an Uber, and dump the stolen merchandise.
Charge him as an adult.
