Suspected DUI Driver Dies in Crash After Pursuit in Brentwood

One person is dead Thursday following a suspected DUI vehicle crash in involving a Brentwood Police Department pursuit in the city of Brentwood.

At approximently 7:46 pm, the Contra Costa County Fire protection District responded to a report in the 1300 block of Roselinda Ct in the City of Brentwood.

1:00 am Brentwood PD Update

On June 1 at approximately 7:06PM, a Brentwood officer was patrolling the area of Sand Creek Road and O’Hara Avenue, when he observed a vehicle commit a vehicle code violation.

The officer conducted a traffic stop, and upon making contact, the officer observed that the driver displayed obvious symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol.

While in the middle of the traffic stop, the driver fled in their vehicle and the officer engaged in a pursuit. Shortly after the driver’s vehicle left the roadway causing a solo vehicle collision. Officers attempted to provide aid to the driver; however, the driver ultimately succumbed to their injuries and died on scene.

At this time, we are not releasing the name of the driver. The Contra Costa County District Attorney Investigators are conducting an investigation per county protocol.
