Brentwood Police Arrest Barricaded Man

You may have noticed some police activity this afternoon on Indiana Avenue near Walnut Blvd.

Around 1:30PM today, Brentwood Officers responded to the 600 block of Indiana Avenue, for a report of a burglary in progress.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect, identified as 35 year-old Shay Ditmars of Brentwood, had broken into a residence and then barricaded himself inside another vacant residence. A drone was used to determine where Ditmars had barricaded himself, and one of our officers, who is also a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team, was in communication with him.

After communicating with Ditmars for some time, he was safely taken into custody and placed under arrest for burglary. No citizens or officers were injured during this incident.

This is a great example of the many resources our officers use when handling a call; and we are grateful this ended without incident.
