The Brentwood Police Department says a 17-year-old is dead in a Friday night shootout which was the result of an attempted robbery in the 800 block of Marjoram Drive in the City of Brentwood.
According to police, while a group of people were leaving a home on Chili Court, two suspects; a 17 year-old male resident of Antioch, and a 20 year-old male resident of Walnut Creek attempted to rob a 21 year-old male resident of Antioch, while all three were armed.
All three exchanged gunfire on Marjoram Drive, striking the 17 year-old suspect and 21 year-old victim. The 20 year-old suspect was not injured. Three firearms were recovered at the scene.
The 17 year-old was transported to an area hospital and remains in critical condition. The 21 year-old victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. (UPDATE – Brentwood police say the 17-year-old has died)
All names are being withheld at this time and there remains no threat to public safety. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time.

The shooting occurred around 7:45 pm in the 800 block of Marjoram Drive in the City of Brentwood where at least five shots were fired according to neighbors.
Preliminary information provided by Brentwood Police Captain Walter O’Grodnick, at 7:45 pm, two males exchanged gunfire in which both were hit by gunfire and transported to local hospitals. He did not provide any information on the condition of both subjects and said there were no outstanding suspects and there is no threat to public safety. He said more information would be released later.
At least one person was placed in handcuffed and detained. He was later transported to the Brentwood Police Department.
While on scene, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters and AMR provided patient care, including transporting one person via medical helicopter after landing at Blue Goose Park. Another person was transported via ground transport–at least one of the gunshot victims were in critical condition, possibly a gunshot to the head.
