Bentley’s in Downtown Martinez Vandalized Days After Grand Opening

Bently’s Container Bar, a newly opened business in downtown Martinez was the victim of both a burglary and vandalism on July 30 around 1:00 am.

In a 40-minute security video posted online, a man can be seen walking around the Bently’s Container Bar , tampering with items such as the water line and internet connection. He also is seen taking down umbrellas, stole multiple plants, threw plants everywhere, stole menus that were bolted down, kicked buckets. He is also seen entering into Market and Main and took several items including tools.

Bentley’s opened up on Friday and now they are stuck replacing items and repairing the damage from vandalism early Sunday Morning. Ultimately, they were able to reopen on Sunday.

“We are estimating the total loss of tools, supplies, loss of revenue, repairs, and the replacement of the security system to be around $20,000.00.  We are hurt by the actions of this individual and are hopeful the police will be able to find and capture this man,” said Malena Clegg.

The Martinez Police Department have not yet released information on the incident and the video is from neighboring business, Five Suns Brewing.

There is now a GoFundMe seeking $15k in donations:

Hi,

As the owners of Market & Main and the new container bar Bentley’s in Downtown Martinez we are asking for your help.

The day after the Grand Opening of Bentley’s, someone vandalized our outdoor patio by breaking plants, destroying menus, cutting our water line and the Ethernet cable to our security system. The vandals proceeded to break into our inside courtyard and stole thousands of dollars worth of tools and supplies.

We are a small self funded woman owned business and could use some help to try and recoup some of our loss. We will be using the funds to replace our tools and increase our security system. Anything would help. Thank you!
