While Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe continues to defend his “crime is down” rhetoric, residents in the City of Antioch were hit with 19 more vehicle thefts last week.
The Antioch Police Department has not issued any comment regarding vehicle thefts, however, there are now 328 vehicle thefts since May 28 in the City of Antioch. Here is a look at the known vehicle thefts between August 6-12:

- 8/9 – 3600 block Mallard Ct.
- 8/9 – 4400 block Pampas Cir.
- 8/9 – 2700 block Harvest Lane
- 8/9 – 3200 block Piece Ct.
- 8/9 – 5100 block Ramsdell Ct.
- 8/10 – 2800 block Lucena Way
- 8/11 – 1400 block Yosemite Dr
- 8/11 – 500 block Amber Dr
- 8/11 – 2600 block Jaguar Way

The week prior, there were 50 vehicles stolen. The week before that, 48 vehicle thefts.

Homicides:
Along with vehicle theft, Antioch Police dealt with several major incidents including a August 10 homicide on W 20th Street where an argument led to a shooting that left one man dead. You also had a 14-year-old shot and in critical condition after an altercation at the Antioch Marina on August 12.
And lets not forget, you had Adil Aljanaby arrested for arson and threatening the life and safety of his family after a domestic dispute with his wife. On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 10:40 p.m. Con Fire responded to a residential structure fire on Mount Hamilton Drive in Antioch. After a thorough investigation, the fire was found to have originated in the garage. Upon further investigation, Con Fire Investigators learned approximately one hour prior to the fire, Aljanaby threatened to drive through the house, set the house on fire, and kill his family.
