Brentwood Police Catch Armed Robbery Suspect After Pursuit

BRENTWOOD, CA – On Friday around 10:15 a.m., Brentwood Police officers responded to a cellular store in the 3100 block of Balfour Road to investigate an armed robbery.

Employees reported a lone suspect armed with a handgun left the store with a large amount of cellular items. A short time later, Brentwood officers located the suspect in a vehicle in the city of Oakley.

The suspect immediately fled from officers at a high rate of speed. A vehicle pursuit was initiated, which continued through Oakley and Antioch, before the suspect’s vehicle became disabled and crashed on eastbound State Route Highway 4 near Highway 160. Immediately following the crash, the suspect fled on foot before being quickly apprehended.

The suspect, a 25 year old male from Fremont/Oakland was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries related to the crash. No other vehicles were involved and no officers were injured. Property associated with the robbery and a firearm was recovered.

Employees at the cellular store were not physically harmed and no customers were present during the robbery. When the suspect is released from the hospital, he will be booked at the County Jail on multiple felony charges.

This investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time.
