Update: Deceased Man on Antioch Sidewalk Now Homicide Case

The Antioch Police Department confirmed Friday that a man found deceased on a sidewalk Wednesday was determined to be a homicide

According to police, after an autopsy and further investigation, the death has been determined to be a homicide. The victim, Raheem Coe, is a 48-year-old Antioch resident who frequented the area where he was discovered.

Detectives are still asking the public for assistance as they continue to investigate.

This is the 5th homicide of the year for the Antioch Police Department according to their most recent crime data.


Original release

On May 15, 2024, at approximately 7:19 AM, Antioch police officers responded to the 2200 block of Country Hills Drive to assist Contra Costa Fire on a reported male down on the sidewalk possibly in need of medical attention.

According to police, they say no gunshots or stab wounds were located on the male, however, they did observe blunt force trauma. No other information was released on scene.

Police say when officers arrived, they located a deceased male. The cause of death is unknown and this is the third suspicious death on the year.

The Antioch Police Department’s Investigations Bureau, consisting of Crime Scene Investigators and detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation. The cause of death is pending an autopsy from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office. This is an active investigation, and no further information will be released.
