The following Richmond Police Calls are for April 29-May 12 .  These are the dates and recaps reported by Richmond Police. Police reported 1904 calls for service with 85 arrests and 88 vehicle crashes.

Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.

  • 4/29 – COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: Officers responded to the 1000 block of Macdonald Ave for a report of a theft. The victim reported the two suspects entered the establishment, took items and exited without paying. The suspects returned to the establishment after loading the stolen items into a parked vehicle. Officers contacted the suspects upon arrival as they were exiting the establishment. The suspects were arrested without incident. #4302
  • 4/30 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the 800 block of Barrett Ave for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers located various expended casings and several vehicles which had been struck by gunfire. Fortunately, no one was injured. This investigation is ongoing. #4371
  • 5/1 – EMBEZZLE LEASED/RENTED VEHICLE – RECOVERY: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #4379
  • 5/1 – STOLEN VEHICLE – RECOVERY: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #4277
  • 5/1 – WARRANT ARREST: While on routine patrol, officers recognized a suspect from prior contacts and knew he had an outstanding warrant. The suspect was wanted for assault with a firearm and home invasion robbery. The incident occurred in the 300 block of S. 15th St on 3/3/24, in which the suspect pistol whipped the victim. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. #2159
  • 5/2 – CARRY STOLEN LOADED FIREARM: Officers conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation in the area of Marina Way and Chanslor Ave. Upon contacting the driver, officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed a clear plastic bag in the center console containing suspected marijuana. During the course of their investigation, it was determined the driver was also unlicensed and a firearm was recovered. The suspect was arrested and his vehicle was impounded. #4459
  • 5/4 – NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: Officers responded to the 1000 block of Chesley Ave for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers found numerous casings at the scene. No victims were located and no property appeared to have been struck by gunfire. #4535
  • 5/5 – RECKLESS DRIVING: Officers observed sideshow activity in the 2300 block of Roosevelt Ave, with several people attempting to take over the intersection. Multiple officers responded to the area. Two vehicles were impounded and the drivers were arrested. #4561
  • 5/6 – POSSESSION OF A LOADED FIREARM: Officers responded to the 400 block of Pennsylvania Ave for a ShotSpotter activation. During the course of the investigation, officers located an occupied vehicle in the area of the ShotSpotter activation. As officers attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle, a firearm dislodged from the suspect’s waistband. The suspect was arrested and transported to a local hospital to be medically cleared prior to being booked. #4607
  • 5/8 – POSSESSION OF STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to the 300 block of Marina Way for a report of a suspect attempting to steal a catalytic converter. Witnesses observed the suspect carrying the catalytic converter into a residence. Officers conducted a knock and talk at the residence and when the door was answered, officers saw the catalytic converter in the living room. The suspect was arrested without incident. Two other occupants of the residence were found to have outstanding warrants for their arrests. #4007
  • 5/8 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the 5000 block of Gately Ave for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a victim in stable condition. The suspect has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing. #4683
  • 5/8 – STOLEN VEHICLE/RECOVERY: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #4708
  • 5/8 – ROBBERY: Officers responded to the 3200 block of Pierce St for a report of a robbery. Officers learned the victim was seated in her parked vehicle when the suspect shattered her window and snatched her purse. The suspect then entered a waiting vehicle and fled prior to officers’ arrival. #4707
  • 5/9 – POSSESSION OF STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle unoccupied and observed two suspects enter the stolen vehicle and drive away. The vehicle became disabled after officers deployed stop-sticks and collided into a parked vehicle. The two occupants foot bailed but were eventually located and taken into custody with the assistance of a K9 and drone. #4742
  • 5/11 – HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the 3100 block of Pullman Ave for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located three victims suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Unfortunately, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene. RPD Homicide Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. This investigation is ongoing. #4795
