May 5-11: El Cerrito Police Calls

The following is a summary of criminal activity in  police calls between May 5-11 according to the El Cerrito Police Department.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in  . It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

May 5th

  • Warrant Arrest – Central Ave. / San Mateo St.: At 10:23 AM, an officer made a pedestrian enforcement stop and found the subject to have a warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Organized Retail Theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens): At 7:50 PM, an officer reports two suspects entered the store and filled their backpacks with merchandise. Suspects fled prior to police arrival.

May 6TH

  • Forgery – 800 block of Seaview Dr.
    At 4:06 PM, the victim reported that a check they mailed had been altered and fraudulently cashed at a bank.

May 7th

  • Shoplifting / Drunk in Public / Resisting Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway): At 9:15 AM, a suspect stole merchandise. Officer located the suspect and the suspect refused to cooperate with officers. During the investigation, officers found the suspect to be under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested, booked at the Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Driving Under the Influence / Probation Violation – 7900 Block of Potrero Ave. At 6:07 PM, officers were dispatched to a collision. During the investigation, officers found the driver at fault to be under the influence. Further investigation found the driver had also violated their probation.  The driver was transported to the hospital and later released on a citation.
  • Battery / Vandalism – 800 Block of Liberty St.: At 8:32 PM, the victim reported being assaulted by a roommate’s son.  During the battery, the suspect damaged the victim’s property.  The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

May 8th

  • Attempted Forgery – 11100 San Pablo Ave. (BMO Bank): At 1:27 PM, a subject was detained for attempting to cash a lost check.  The subject was positively identified and later released from the scene.
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 8200 block of Terrace Dr. At 4:35 PM, a victim reported their neighbor swung an object at them while the victim was working along the fence line. The report was forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.
  • Driving Under the Influence – Potrero Ave. / S. 56th St.
    At 6:09 PM, officers responded to a collision.  During the investigation, officers found the driver at fault to be under the influence. The driver was arrested, booked at the Police Department and later released on a citation.
  • Battery – 1700 Block of Lexington Ave. At 6:46 PM, the victim reported being pushed several times by an unknown suspect.  The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

May 9th

  • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle / Probation Violation – San Pablo Ave. / MacDonald Ave. At 9:31 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a stolen vehicle. Further investigation found the driver was on probation for theft.  The suspect was arrested, booked at the Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Theft – 1700 block of Walnut St. At 10:03 AM, a victim reports being scammed on the internet.
  • Grand Theft – 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24 Hour Fitness): At 12:53 PM, a victim reported their electric bicycle was stolen in front of the business.
  • Battery – 1000 Plaza (Lucky). At 6:02 PM, officers responded to a reported robbery from the business.  During the investigation, it was determined no robbery had occurred.  The suspect, however, was told to leave the store and assaulted an employee in the process.  The suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival
  • Vandalism – 1700 Block of Eastshore Blvd. At 3:10 AM, the victim reported an unknown suspect shattered the rear window of their vehicle.

May 10th

  • Grand Theft – 1200 block of Richmond St. At 6:19 AM, the victim reported that a suspect stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle.
  • Vandalism – 6800 block of Gladys Ave. At 10:52 AM, a victim reported that a window to their vehicle was shattered.
  • Shoplifting and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 6000 Plaza (Marshalls): At 2:02 PM, officers arrived on scene and arrested a suspect for stealing merchandise from the store. During the investigation, the suspect was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked at the Police Department and released on a citation.
  • Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Wall Ave. At 2:45 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence. The driver was arrested, booked at the Police Department, and issued a citation.

May 11th

  • Shoplifting – 6000 Plaza (Marshalls): At 7:08 PM, officers were conducting a security check at the business when store security advised of a theft in progress. Officers located and detained the suspect as the suspect exited the store. The suspect was arrested and released on a citation.
  • Theft – 670 Plaza (CVS): At 9:29 PM, an officer reports two suspects entered the store and broke into several display cases and stole merchandise.

    Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Blake St. At 9:23 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the Police Department and issued a citation.
