On Wednesday, Antioch School Board Trustee President Antonio Hernandez is requesting a discussion on launching a Board Directed School District Investigation.
According to the Agenda Item:
- Board Directed School District Investigation – A discussion on launching a board investigation on the policies, practices, and culture of the Antioch Unified School District that impact our employees and students.
Its unclear what Hernandez is exactly requesting or seeking out because the Antioch School Board sets policy, it does not perform administrative functions. Last week, a third-party investigator cleared the district of any mishandling of “bully boss” accusations.
Although bullying was accused all the way back in January 2023, the Board did not request a debrief on the investigation until April 10, 2024 and ultimately received a debrief in closed session on May 8, 2024. The Antioch School District then released a letter to district employees on May 15, 2024 citing they acted in accordance with the law and proper process and protocols. Also cites Anello not involved with any of the investigations, findings or discipline.
This then prompted Hernandez to accuse the superintendent of bullying him while breaking attorney-client privilege and posting legal documents online.
He made two posts online:
- May 15 at 6:43 pm – “AGAIN, I will continue to talk about the issues that affect our employees and students. I will not tolerate an environment where bullies are allowed to run rampant in our school district. I will not be bullied or silenced by any administration official just because I am calling them out!“
- May 15 at 4:15 pm – This is yet another example of the culture of bullying at the Antioch Unified School District. I will not be bullied by the Superintendent in hopes that the the problems she created go away.
Editors Note – if anything, the documents show Hernandez has bullied district staff, broken board policy, and likely committed multiple Brown Act Violations. By law, the superintendent cannot technically bully any board member as they are a superintendents boss and hold power over her, not the other way around.
