The Liberty Union High School District has appointed Denise Rugani as the next Superintendent of the District.
On June 4, Rugani was appointed as the interim superintendent, however, a vote Wednesday by the school board made it official. The board voted 5-0.
Rugani has served LUHSD for the past 13 years as an Assistant and Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. Since joining Liberty, she has twice been recognized by the Association of California School Administrators(ACSA). In 2014, she was named Region VI/ East Bay Human Resources Administrator of the Year, later in 2022, she received state-wide recognition from ACSA by being awarded the Ray Curry Award for outstanding work in human resources. Denise is a certified Tier II Administrative Coach and presents regularly across the State on HR matters.
Prior to coming to Liberty, Denise served Mt. Diablo Unified as a Teacher, Academy Leader, Assistant Principal, Principal, and finally as a Director of Secondary Support.
Outside of school, Denise is very active in the Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity and served as the national president from 2006 to 2010.
In May, the Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District announced the selection of Eric Volta as its next Superintendent. The board voted 4-0 to approve Volta announced board vice president Esmeralda Ortiz.
“The board has selected a new superintendent, Mr. Eric Volta. The District and Mr. Volta are currently working to finalize a contract which will be brought back before the Board and voted upon on the June 3, 2024 board meeting,” said Ortiz who added they were excited.
Volta was hired as Superintendent by the Liberty Union High School District in 2011 and had been with the District for 11-years prior, including assistant principal of Freedom High School.
