The Cities of Concord reminds residents that all fireworks are illegal and encourage residents to report them via their concord Connect App.

Via City of Concord:

All fireworks (even those labeled “safe and sane”) are illegal in Concord and all of Contra Costa County, except for permitted professional displays. This includes bottle rockets, roman candles, firecrackers, and sparklers.

Fireworks are dangerous and cause fires, which can result in severe injury and even death, as well as costly property damage.

People who possess, discharge, sell, or manufacture fireworks will be cited and fined.

To report illegal fireworks activity, please use the City’s Concord Connect app.Β Select “Make a Request,” and click on “Illegal Fireworks Reporting.”

In 2023, the Concord Police Department deployed this successful strategy to help decrease fireworks-related calls to 911, improve response times to community reports of illegal fireworks use, and deter fireworks usage overall.

Between May 24, 2023, and July 5, 2023, more than 493 reports of illegal fireworks usage were reported through the app, while 79 fireworks-related calls came in through the City’s 911 or non-emergency dispatch phone lines. πŸ“ˆπŸ“‰

If you are reporting an injury, fire, or medical emergency, please call 911.Β  If you are not reporting a life-threatening emergency, please use the app so the Police Department can keep its 911 dispatch lines open.
