Firefighters Battle Pair of Afternoon Vegetation Fires in Pittsburg

On Friday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District battled a pair of vegetation fires in the City of Pittsburg.

At approximently 3:25 pm, firefighters were dispatched to a vegetation fire in the area of the 2200 block of Santa Maria at Los Palos Dr with a report of a 1/2 acre of vegetation on fire. A large column of smoke was reported while crews were responded. When E87 was on scene, they estimated the fire to be around 2-acres and threatening multiple homes. They called for a second alarm for structure protection by 3:29 pm.

Pittsburg Police also responded to the scene to provide traffic control and help with possible evacuations on Honey Ct.

By 3:50 pm, the fire was contained to just under 2-acres.

Willow Pass Road Fire

At approximately 2:30 pm, Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to the 1500 block of Willow Pass Road off N Parkside in the City of Pittsburg. The fire was near the railroad tracks and smoke was picked up by the Mt. Diablo Camera. Crews were able to get the fire under control without incident.
