VSET Operation in Antioch Nets 10 Arrests

The Antioch Police Department announced a recent VSET operation was a success resulting in multiple arrests and recovered stolen vehicles.

The VSET operation included 14 agencies with 50 officers from around Contra Costa County where they targeted the City of Antioch looking for stolen vehicles and looking for thieves. The data included:

  • 14 police agencies participated with 50 officers total
  • 115 enforcement stops conducted
  • 10 arrests made
  • 3 occupied stolen vehicles recovered
  • 11 abandoned stolen vehicles found
  • 2 firearms seized
  • 1 dirt bike impounded
  • 4 probation searches conducted
  • 4 failures to yield, all resulting in arrests and no injuries

According to the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office, the Vehicle Theft Probation Officer supervises probationers throughout the entire county. The deputy actively participates, twice a month, in the Vehicle Suppression Enforcement Team (VSET) operations. This Deputy Probation Officer serves a vital role in:

  • Identifying suspects
  • Locating stolen vehicles
  • Performing searches
  • Completing follow-up paperwork
  • Processing of probation offenders

Collaborative efforts and the sharing of information between probation and law enforcement have allowed for violations to be handled more quickly and efficiently, offenders in violation of probation to be taken into custody more quickly, and the communities becoming a safer place.

The operation comes as year-to-date, the City of Antioch has experienced over 700 vehicle thefts
