CALFIRE Says Brentwood Vegetation Fire Grew to 250-acres

Late Wednesday, CALFIRE says a fire in the City of Brentwood spread to 250-acres and was 75% contained as of 7:50 pm.

The fire broke out just after 3:00 pm in the area of Deer Valley Road and Empire Mine road which began as a small  30×30 fire and quickly grew with updates coming quickly jumping to 100-acres and approaching homes.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District arrived on scene to the fire being approximently 1-acre and requested a second-alarm response was the blaze quickly grew to 50-acres by 3:35 pm. They also requested air support and law enforcement to shut down Deer Valley Road to traffic.

The incident knocked out power and cable services in the Brentwood area which lasted several hours with PG&E on scene working to repair damaged poles and wires.

As of 3:48 pm, the fire was more than 100-acres. They also requested structure protection at W Country Club while air drops were set to begin.

We never seem to see anything about how these fires were started - seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Obviously due to human activity, but accidental or arson?

I agree. How are all these fires starting? Fire in Fresno, Pittsburg, may others. At least San Jose arsonist was arrested! No cause given for recent Corral Fire either.
