Firefighters Battle Vegetation Fire off Neroly Road in Oakley

At 6:14 pm Friday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the City of Oakley.

The fire was reported in the area of Neroly near Placer Drive with smoke showing and also being picked up on the PG&E cameras. It was also reported that a “power box” exploded.

By 6:25 pm, the fire was estimated at 1-acre in size. At least 1 power line was down.

As of 6:34 pm, the fire was contained and an appliance of some sort was on fire in the middle of the field. According to PG&E, 209 customers were without power
