The Richmond Police Department announced the arrest of a homicide suspect who was taken into custody in the State of Nebraska.
On Sunday, at 11:30 pm, Richmond Police Officers responded to the 3400 block of Richmond Parkway for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, Elizander Narvaez Fernandez, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The second victim received treatment at a local trauma center and is expected to survive their wounds.
Detectives determined that the victim and suspect were known to each other and that a fight erupted at a party being held at that location. The suspect produced a firearm and fired at the victims, prior to fleeing. Richmond Homicide Detectives quickly developed information leading to the suspect being identified as Arcenio Fernandez Marquez, a 30-year-old resident of Richmond.
Detectives quickly secured a warrant for Arcenio Fernandez Marquez’s arrest and associated the warrant with the vehicle he was suspected of driving.
As a result, the Nebraska State Patrol located his vehicle on Tuesday evening near Ogallala, Nebraska, when a license plate reader alerted them Arcenio’s vehicle being in the area. They were able to quickly take him into custody, where he remains. He will remain in custody in Nebraska while awaiting extradition back to California, where our detectives will continue to work to ensure he is held accountable.
