Pittsburg Police Say 1 Dead in July 4 Shooting

The Pittsburg Police Department reports that one person died as a result of a shooting on the July 4 holiday.

According to police, at approximately 11:54 pm Thursday, officers responded to the 200 block of West 10th Street for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.

Responding officers located a male subject on scene who was suffering from several gunshot wounds. Officers provided immediate medical aid until paramedics arrived, but unfortunately the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene. Due to the ongoing investigation, the identity of the victim is not being released at this time.

The Investigations Division was notified and is currently working to identify potential leads. Due to the active nature of the incident, no additional information is available at this time.

Pittsburg Police did not release any information on the victims age, if they were a City of Pittsburg resident or if there were any other victims in the shooting.
