The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District had a busy Friday afternoon after multiple vegetation fires broke out in East Contra Costa County.
Fire crews were battling a total of 7 separate fires between 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm:
Here is a rundown:
2:09 pm: Residential Structure fire, Oakley
Firefighters arrived on scene reporting smoke coming from the garage. Due to hoarding conditions, crews could not do a 360 of the home, but later determined no extension into the home and would be on scene a while–crews were released in an effort to respond to several vegetation fires that were dispatched.
2:24 pm: W Leland & Bailey Road, Pittsburg
This fire started in the Ambrose Park area and determined to be three separate fires with it believed to have been started by homeless. They were contained by fire breaks but sent a large column of smoke into the air and impacted Highway 4.
2:30 pm: Vegetation Fire at Contra Loma and SR4, Antioch
Crews responded to a report of smoke coming from the area which was determined to be a small vegetation fire started by homeless. BC8 reported the fire was contained by the sound wall and freeway onramp.
2:43 pm: debris fire along sound wall on Highway 4, Pittsburg
Fire Crews arrived on scene reporting this was a debris fire along the trail by the sound wall along Highway 4. No threat to homes.
2:48 pm: Fire Broke Out near Station 87
A vegetation fire broke out at John Henry Johnson and W Leland… fire in area of previous fire which may have burned itself out. This fire was estimated to be 1/4 acre as of 2:55 pm. The incident was forcing Leland to be closed. Pittsburg Police also requested to the scene.
