The following is a sampling of the Richmond Police Calls reported between June 24 – July 7 which focuses on the higher priority responses in the City of Richmond.
With a July 4 homicide, the Richmond Police Department has already surpassed the total number of homicides that occurred in 2023. Between June 24 – July 7, the overview includes 4,264 calls for service, 69 collisions and 75 arrests

Here is a recap of the Richmond Police calls which focuses on the significant activity provided by Richmond patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift
6/24 – ARMED ROBBERY: Officers responded to an armed robbery in the 1500 block of Carlson Blvd. While officers were relaying the description of the suspect vehicle over the radio, other officers were already conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description for reckless driving. The occupants of the vehicle threw wallets belonging to the victims out of the vehicle during the traffic stop. Both suspects were arrested without incident. #6344
6/26 – CARJACKING: Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cutting Blvd for a report of a carjacking. Officer learned the victim was pumping gas when the suspect struck the victim, took the victim’s wallet and fled in the victim’s vehicle. During the course of the investigation, detectives identified a suspect and issued a warrant for her arrest. The victim’s vehicle has been recovered. #6394
6/26 – RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle and before officers could conduct an enforcement stop, the driver of the vehicle pulled over and exited the vehicle. The driver was arrested without incident. #6379
6/27 – EVADING AN OFFICER/POSSESSION OF STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of S. 37th St and Cutting Blvd for a non-moving violation, but the vehicle failed to stop and continued to travel towards I-80. Officers positioned themselves near the I-80 on ramp with Stop Sticks, resulting in a successful deployment. The suspect vehicle, despite having flat tires, continued to evade officers. The pursuit terminated with the assistance of another law enforcement agency and the driver was taken into custody. A records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen. #6421
6/27 – RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle and conducted an enforcement stop. The driver was arrested and a search of the suspect revealed he was in possession of drug paraphernalia. #6432
6/28 – THEFT: Officers responded to the area of Central Ave and Highway 80 for a report of a robbery. Officers learned the victim was stopped at a red light when the suspect shattered her front passenger window and snatched her purse from the front passenger seat. Officers circulated the area with negative results. #6491
6/29 – ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Officers responded to the 3200 block of Regatta Blvd for a report of a commercial burglary. Responding officers located and detained the suspect who was in possession of metal cutting tools and pliers. The reporting party confirmed officers were with the correct suspect. The suspect was arrested without incident. #6517
7/2 – DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Officers were on routine patrol in the area of 3rd and Macdonald Ave, when their attention was drawn to three subjects engaging in the act of public consumption of an alcoholic beverage. Officers observed multiple discarded empty alcoholic beverage containers in the immediate area of the subjects. Officers contacted the subjects who were in possession of partially consumed alcoholic beverages and demonstrated signs of intoxication. The three subjects were arrested for public intoxication, and subsequently cited and released. #6604
7/3 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the area of Richmond Pkwy and Goodrick Ave for a report of a shooting. Officers located one victim at the scene suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment in stable condition. This investigation is ongoing. #6632
7/3 – DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Officers were on routine patrol in the area of 3rd and Macdonald Ave, when their attention was drawn to multiple subjects who were arrested the day prior for public intoxication at this location. The subjects were again engaging in the act of public consumption of alcoholic beverages. Officers contacted the five subjects who displayed objective signs of alcohol intoxication. All subjects were arrested and subsequently cited and released. #6648
7/3 – RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. The driver and solo occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #6649
7/3 – NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: Officers responded to the 1700 block of Potrero Ave for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers found numerous casings at the scene. No victims were located and no property appeared to have been struck by gunfire. #6657
7/4 – HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION: Officers responded to the 3500 block of El Portal Dr for a report of a possible assault with a deadly weapon. At the scene, officers located a victim suffering from knife wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. This investigation is ongoing. #6675
7/6 – DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM: Officers responded to the 2000 block of Marti Luther King Jr Ave for a report of a shooting. At the scene, officers located a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. This investigation is ongoing. #6731
