The California Highway Patrol reports that on July 16, a big rig crash blocked all lanes of I-680 northbound, just north of Livorna Road. — all lanes are now open.
CHP says the crash occurred at 4:09 am on July 16.
Upon initial investigation it was determined the driver and sole occupant of a white Big Rig was traveling on I-680 northbound just north of Livorna Road when the driver observed an animal in the roadway. The driver attempted to avoid the animal by veering around it, but subsequently lost control of his vehicle. The big rig jackknifed, crashed into the concrete center divider, and came to rest blocking all northbound lanes.
As the big was coming to rest, another big rig, solely occupied by its driver, was traveling on I-680 northbound in the same location. The driver of the second big rig attempted to stop but crashed into the jackknifed big rig. No injuries have occurred from this incident.
Heavy duty tow trucks have been called out to the scene and are currently working to move the big rig.
