Arrest Made in Fatal DUI Crash
On July 18, the Contra Costa County District Attorney (DA) charged Alexi Alexander Pinedaticas, age 30, with murder for the death of 16-year-old Ricardo Funes-Barajas. The DA issued a warrant for Pinedaticas arrest and was arrested today in Richmond by RPD at approximately 3:50PM. He was taken to county jail in Martinez with his bail set for $1.1 million
The DA listed the following charges: Count 1- Murder PC187(a); Count 2- Driving Under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage Causing Injury VC23153(a) and Special Allegation- Great Bodily Injury PC12022.7(a); Count 3- Driving with a .08% Blood Alcohol Content Causing Injury VC23153(b) and Special Allegation- Great Bodily Injury PC12022.7(a).

Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.
- 7/8 – RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. The driver and solo occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident. #6795
- 7/8 – SHOOTING AT UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE: Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 2900 block of Pullman Ave. Officers located various expended casings at the scene and a vehicle that was struck by gunfire. Fortunately, the vehicle was unoccupied and no victims were injured. #6805
- 7/9 – POSSESSION OF A LOADED FIREARM: Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of 11th St and Macdonald Ave. During the course of their investigation, a firearm was recovered and all three occupants were arrested without incident. #6851
- 7/10 – ROBBERY: Officers responded to the area of Central Ave and Pierce St for a report of a robbery. Officers learned the victim was stopped at the red light when the suspect shattered the victim’s passenger window and snatched her purse from the passenger seat. Officers conducted an area search with negative results. #6878
- 7/11 – RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Officers responded to the 700 block of Humboldt Ave for a report of a residential burglary in progress. Officers learned the suspect entered the victim’s residence through an unlocked side door. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect attempting to gain access to a rooftop of a nearby residence and was arrested without incident. #6899
- 7/12 – RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle occupied and arrested the driver without incident. #6951

- 7/14 – MAJOR VEHICLE COLLISION: Officers responded to the area of S. 20th St. and Ohio Ave for a major vehicle collision involving two vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles is suspected of driving while impaired. Unfortunately, the collision claimed the life of the 16-year-old driver of the other vehicle. This investigation is ongoing. #7040
