On Tuesday, the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office will provide its Quarter 2 Oversight Report to the Board of Supervisors.
The report comes after the Board of Supervisors implemented a quarterly oversight report as outlined by the Public Protection Committee which allows information to be released to the public along with questions and discussion regarding public safety.
The data is from January – June 2024.

Total Dispatch calls for service so far in 2024 are at 137,898 which is 8,175 less than in 2023 (146,073)
Total Bookings: Contra Costa County Sheriff is reporting a total of 7,113 total bookings at the Martinez Detention Center—which is up 173 from 2023.
Custody Alternative Bookings – the sheriff is reporting 892, which is 190 more than 2023.
Census Data of Criminals Arrested/Booked – total of 691

Assaults on Staff
On April 19, two deputies attempted to conduct a cell search when they were attacked by the inmates housed in the cell. After the attack, the cell was searched and these deadly weapons were found.
According to data, there have been a total of 29 assaults on staff thus far in 2024. In 2023, it showed a total of 28 attacks.
Other tidbits:
- A3 (Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime) requests were up by 24 requests for a total of 495. Actual responses were 185 which was an increase from 44 in 2023.
- Writ of Possession of Real Property Requests received were 862 which was down 226 from 2023. The sheriffs office had 160 Writ of Possession of Real Property with Tenant Removal—last year it was 185. There were a total of 3 tenant removals with Use of Force while in 2023 they had 1.
- Coroner cases – 371
- Autopsies – 218
- Coroners Inquests – 3
- Internal Affairs Investigations – 9 (which is 3 more than in 2023)
