The City of Walnut Creek is preparing to transition to having all planning permits submitted electronically, effective Monday, July 29. Paper applications will no longer be accepted.
With the launch of the new online permit portal last April, all submittals for building permits and site development permits began to occur electronically. The portal increases communication and transparency for City customers and makes the permitting process more efficient. Homeowners and contractors can easily apply for permits, track status updates, resubmit plans, make payments, retrieve approved plans, and request and confirm inspections from a central hub. The system also helps make staff review more productive by enabling concurrent review by staff from multiple departments, as well as outside consultants.
Customer service will be enhanced because applicants will be able to view and download the consolidated mark-up plans and comments via our online permit portal. More information and “how to” videos are included on the City’s website. Additionally, permit review will be streamlined as staff from multiple departments and outside consultants will be able to review and mark up the same set of plans concurrently.
For any questions, please contact Walnut Creek Planning staff via email at [email protected] or by phone at 925-256-3558.
