Pittsburg Hosts Youth Civic Pride Art Contest

The City of Pittsburg Recreation Department invites local youth artists between the ages of 8 and 18 years old to participate in the City’s Civic Pride Art Contest.

Pittsburg is seeking youth artists to showcase their work by painting a mural on a utility box. The goals of the program are to engage the community in celebrating and expressing civic pride through art. The contest aims to foster community spirit and showcase local talent.

  • ARTWORK DEADLINE: FRIDAY, AUGUST 30TH
  • THEME: “Our Community, Our Pride”
  • ELIGIBILITY This contest is open to local youth in the Pittsburg and Bay Point area who are between the ages of 8-18 years old.

Age groups:

  • 8-10 years old
  • 11-13 years old
  • 14-16 years old
  • 17-18 years old

Art forms:

  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Digital Art
  • Mixed Media

Submission Guidelines:

  • Participants can submit one artwork per their age category
  • Artworks must be original and created specifically for this contest.
  • Submissions must include a brief description of the artwork and how it relates to the theme.
  • All submissions must be submitted digitally and need to be high-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi).
  • Physical submissions must be delivered to the Marina Community Center (340 Marina Blvd.) between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm

August upcoming events in Pittsburg

  • August 2 – First Friday (5:30 pm to 9:00 pm):  Join us for First Fridays and make the Marina your backyard! This is a family event that will feature live music, great Marina views and wine. Feel free to bring our own lawn chairs and blankets. $10 for the first pour and a souvenir glass, each additional pour is $5.  Located at 3 Marina Blvd, Pittsburg.
  • August 8 – Car Show (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm): Join us for Pittsburg Car Show on August 8th with live music by PTK, great cars, and lots of fun!  Join us from 6p to 8p in Old Town Pittsburg for a night of family fun
  • August 9 – Adult Skate Night (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm: Join Sincer.1st Events as they host a “Roll Out”, adult skate night on Friday, August 9th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Marina Community Center (340 Marina Blvd.) This event is open to 30+ and will feature music, food trucks, and skating.
  • August 22 – Car Show (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm): Join us for Pittsburg Car Show on August 22nd with live music by Evolution the Ultimate Tribute to Journey, great cars, and lots of fun!  Join us from 6p to 8p in Old Town Pittsburg for a night of family fun.
