The Brentwood Police Department is investigating a kidnapping incident that occurred on Sunday which resulted in the arrest of a San Francisco man.
On Sunday, August 11, 2024, at approximately 2 PM, Brentwood Dispatch received a call reporting a male and female engaged in a physical altercation inside a vehicle. The reporting party provided a partial license plate, which enabled Dispatch to identify and obtain the full license plate of the vehicle.
Subsequently, two additional calls were received concerning a physical altercation inside the same vehicle. A county-wide BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert was issued to Contra Costa County agencies as well as to agencies throughout the Bay Area.
As Brentwood Police and neighboring agencies intensified their search, Pittsburg Police Department located and stopped the vehicle. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old James Llarena of San Francisco, was taken into custody and arrested on charges of kidnapping and other related offenses. The adult female victim, who sustained injuries consistent with a physical altercation, was transported for medical care. Investigators determined that Llarena and the victim were acquainted.
This appears to be an isolated incident, and based on Brentwood’s investigation, police do not believe there are any additional suspects or victims involved.
