Blue Devils B Captures Silver Medal at DCI Open Class World Championship Finals with Sacred Geometry Performance
Concord, CA – The Blue Devils organization has once again demonstrated its exceptional artistry and excellence at the 2024 Drum Corps International Finals, achieving top honors in both World and Open Class competitions.
On Saturday night, The Blue Devils, competing in the World Class division, brought the era of Romanticism to life with their breathtaking production, The Romantics. This captivating performance earned them an impressive score of 97.075 and secured the prestigious Bronze Medal at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Romantics was an immersive journey through the essence of Romanticism, celebrating the movement’s emphasis on nature, individuality, and the exploration of the unknown. With a dynamic soundtrack that blended past and present, and choreography that celebrated human emotion and curiosity, the production was a living, breathing tribute to the power of the imagination and the human spirit.
“Romanticism gave people the freedom to dream, to explore the fantastical, and to understand the essence of humanity. This summer, our 165 extraordinary performers traveled across the United States, bringing The Romantics to Drum Corps International’s celebration of excitement and excellence,” said Pat Seidling, Corps Director of The Blue Devils. “This season has been remarkable in so many ways, and my pride in our members is boundless. Their unwavering dedication, relentless commitment, heartfelt passion, and remarkable maturity have brought The Romantics to life in the most stunning and inspiring way.”
BD Performing Arts extends heartfelt congratulations toThe Bluecoats on their well-deserved Gold Medal. “Change Is Everything” was an exceptional production and a delight to witness as it evolved throughout the season. We also extend our congratulations to The Boston Crusaders on their Silver Medal and to all the incredible performers in every group competing this week. The creativity and performance quality displayed across the Drum Corps activity have been truly inspiring, and we are thrilled about what the future has in store!
Blue Devils B Captures Silver Medal with Sacred Geometry in the Open Class Division
In the Open Class division, Blue Devils B, with members aged 15-19, delivered a breathtaking performance with their 2024 production, Sacred Geometry. Their remarkable execution earned them the Silver Medal at the DCI Open Class World Championship Finals. This extraordinary show highlighted the corps’ ability to masterfully combine mathematical precision with artistic expression, leaving a lasting impact on both the audience and the judges.
Reflecting on the season, Program Director Dr. Marvin Reed, Jr. shared, “This summer has truly been a magical and uplifting experience as we step into a new era of BDB. There’s nothing better than seeing the corps perform what they’re capable of. We, as staff, see it during rehearsals in chunks here and there. But when they finally put the whole thing together, and it clicked in front of the audience—that was the most beautiful thing. The culmination of the staff and members’ work came to life. When the members walked out of the tunnel smiling at Lucas Oil, we knew that all the sacrifice and dedication put forth was worth it.”
As Blue Devils B took the field, they transported spectators into a world where the sacred nature of ancient music was intertwined with the precise, mathematical rhythms of modern compositions. This exploration of dichotomies was further enhanced by the corps’ dynamic choreography, vivid color guard performances, and intricate formations, all of which contributed to the overall impact of Sacred Geometry.
