Firefighters Battle 20-Acre Fire in Byron

At 11:30 am Wednesday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Bruns Road and Kelso Rd in Byron.

Upon arrival, crews estimated the fire just under 5-acres with potential of 10 acres and no structures threatened. By noon, the fire had grown to 15-acres with air drops underway. A short-time later, forward progress had been stopped.

As of 12:40 pm, the fire remains at 20 acres with forward progress stopped. Firefighters are working to secure containment lines and mop up according to CALFIRE.
