The Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office announced the arrest of three individuals in connection with shoplifting out of Bay Point.
According to their social media post, approximently $9,000 worth of merchandise was recently shoplifted from a business in Bay Point. Deputies responded and pulled a vehicle over in a parking lot as they attempted to flee the area.
The three suspects were arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on multiple charges. The $9,000 in goods were returned to the stores.
The Sheriffs Office has provided no information on the suspects, the date of the incident or what stores were involved.
UPDATE
The three suspects are identified as:
- 31-year-old Makaira Thornton of Oakland
- 28-year-old Oshanae Cameron of Vallejo
- 33-year-old Kiara Robinson of Bay Point
They were booked on charges that include burglary, organized retail theft, and conspiracy.
The original incident occurred on August 5, 2024 at about 8:10 PM at a store located on the 2700 block of Willow Pass Road in Bay Point.
Governor Newsom Highlights Retail Theft
This week, California Governor Gavin Newsom shared that the California Highway Patrol task force has made over 800 arrests, conducted 448 investigations and recovered over $7.2 million in stolen good related to organized retail theft.
