PITTSBURG, CA – On or around August 18, 2024, the City of Pittsburg identified a security incident affecting a portion of our computer systems. Upon detection, we immediately took steps to secure our systems and engaged external cybersecurity specialists to assist with the investigation.

Our work with the cybersecurity specialists is ongoing. While we aim to be transparent and forthcoming with information relating to the incident, we do not want to make premature assumptions about the extent of impact or other details, which may evolve as the forensic investigation advances.

We understand the concerns such an incident may raise among our residents, employees, and partners. We have notified federal law enforcement of the incident and want to assure everyone that we are taking this matter seriously.

Once the investigation is complete and in the event that our review determines any personal information has been involved, we will notify the affected individuals directly. We value the trust and credibility we have established and strive to maintain accuracy in the information we share.

The City is in the process of implementing measures so that business operations can continue safely and securely. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate through this situation.
