Pittsburg Police DUI Checkpoint Nets 3 DUI Arrests

The Pittsburg Police Department announced that a DUI checkpoint on August 23 resulted in 3 DUI arrests in the City of Pittsburg.

According to police, it was a collaborative effort with assistance from CHP, Concord Police and Brentwood Police. The results included:

• Vehicles Screened: 946
• DUI Evaluations: 11
• DUI Arrests: 3
• Citations Issued: 7
• Other Arrests: 1
• Vehicles Towed: 3

In 2021, 1,370 people were killed in alcohol involved crashes, accounting for nearly a3 of all traffic deaths in California (32%). Designate a sober driver, use a ride-sharing service or call a taxi just don’t drink and drive.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties,  as well as a suspended license.
