Pinole, CA – The City of Pinole is pleased to announce a special Police Chief Community Interview event on Wednesday, September 4, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Senior Center Main Hall.
This event offers a rare and valuable opportunity for Pinole residents to meet and engage with the two finalist candidates for the position of Police Chief before they proceed to their final interview with the City Manager.
Previous community engagement efforts for the new Police Chief included a public survey and a community interview panel, which helped narrow down the search to two qualified candidates. Understanding the importance of a strong, trusting relationships between the new Police Chief and the community, the city has decided to provide this additional opportunity to residents to actively participate in the interview process.
During the event, each candidate will introduce themselves, share their professional backgrounds, engage in Q&A session. This will be followed by a “meet the candidate discussion,” where community members can interact with the candidates in a more personal and informal setting.
“We believe that community involvement is critical in selecting the right leader for our police department,” said Kelcey Young, City Manager. “This event ensure that our residents have a voice in this important decision and can get to know the candidates who may soon be leading our police force.”
Neil H. Gang has been the Police Chief of Pinole for 10 years and is scheduled to retire soon. The city is very appreciative of Gang’s leadership and initiation of the recruitment process.
