The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is working a HAZMAT response incident in the City of Pittsburg.
The incident began at approximently 10:50 am where fire crews responded to a report of a chemical leak, possibly a chlorine leak, in the 900 block of Driveway Road off Arcy at Corteva — possibly along the railway in a car.
Crews who were responding, were requested to stage off Loveridge to ensure they were not impacted.
By 11:15 am, CONFIRE was also requesting a representative for BNSF.

This is a Public Health Advisory Message from Contra Costa Health for portions of Pittsburg and Antioch. An incident at the CORTEVA Chemical Plant in Pittsburg could affect individuals with respiratory sensitivities. Most people will not be affected. Eye, skin, nose or throat irritation may be possible for some people in the affected area. If people experience any irritation, advise them to go inside and rinse any irritated area of their body with water. Handle this as advisory information only. As of now, there are no indications of offsite health impacts from the chlorine incident in Pittsburg per Contra Costa Health. The Hazmat Team continues to assist Contra Costa Fire.
7:20 pm – All Clear
The health advisory in the Pittsburg/Antioch area near the Corteva facility has been lifted. Readings taken in the area by our Hazmat Team did not indicate there would be any offsite health impacts. Hazmat Team is leaving the scene.
